The Gucci Soho Disco bag is one of my favorite crossbody bags and I personally think it has the potential to eventually reach iconic-bag status (more on why below).
It came out around 2014 without a lot of fanfare and didn’t garner a lot of notice (or marketing) at first.
Slowly however bloggers and influencers started to notice it and pick it up.
It gained an organic following – which is always good for a bag – as women came to appreciate it’s chic design, funky leather tassel and ability to hold more than other crossbody models.
Overall, if you’re looking for a chic, edgy crossbody bag with a sophisticated flair, it’s definitely worth considering.

Gucci Soho Disco Bag Review:
The Gucci Soho Disco leather bag came out around 2014. Within a couple of years it started to become a blogger favorite, known as an all-around chic crossbody bag that you could wear for everyday use.
It’s not hard to see why this bag is so popular.
It’s edgy enough for the younger crowd but with a classic sophistication to suit a more mature audience as well.
It’s a rectangular shape like a camera bag – but it does tend to hold a lot more than other crossbody bags. There’s a surprising amount of room in this bag – and it still looks small and feminine when you wear it crossbody, which is a huge plus.
The soft, pebbled leather is embossed on one side with the large double-G Gucci logo. However it’s not overt, bright or loud – which I love. So you can see the logo if you look for it – but it’s not in your face.
A lot of women also like the leather tassel – which dresses up what could be a boring, overly-conservative, camera-style bag. The tassel adds that bit of funky flair to it – like hot chocolate – with a hint of cayenne pepper or orange liqueur in it.
How To Wear It:
You can wear it crossbody or on the shoulder. And the leather strap is adjustable – so you can find the right fit for your height.
I also like the fact that it’s lightweight and simple – not too heavy. The zip top adds an extra layer of security as well and the 2 side pockets are handy for organizing your phone or storing keys.
One thing to note is that you really should not overstuff this bag as it’s not overly hard and structured – so you could risk affecting the shape of the bag over time. This also goes for overly-heavy items.
The only real downside to this bag is that you can’t detach the strap and use it as a clutch. Also, while it holds a lot of essentials like a small wallet, keys, lipstick/makeup stick and a phone – it obviously won’t hold a lot of extras like a shoulder bag or tote would hold.
So if you have a lot of extras to carry around with you, this is not your bag. The Disco bag is probably best for everyday use, an upscale work environment or a night on the town.
It’s not the best option if you have a more formal or black-tie event however. Then again, depending on your style, you never know!
You can currently get the Gucci Soho Disco bag in red, black and tan. I’ve also seen it come in soft and bright pink – however as of this writing it can be hard to find in these colors – so if you want it in pink, you might need to search for it preloved.
Final Word on the Gucci Soho Disco Bag?
I love this bag. I think it’s chic and cool – without trying too hard.
Will it hold it’s value in the long run?
I believe it will – probably not to the extent of a Chanel or Hermes. However the bag is so popular now that Gucci is starting to raise the price on it (similar to what Chanel and Louis Vuitton are doing).
So you never know – in 5 years you might actually be able to sell it at full or close to full value from where you bought it.
I also think it could veer into the terriotory of iconic bag status if we see another couple of years where it’s this popular.
I know that’s saying a lot – but hear me out. Unlike a lot of bags that come out and are pushed (by a marketing team) to become trendy right away, this bag didn’t start out trendy.
It was slowly discovered and then organically became trendy as more and more women liked the bags – kind of like the Louis Vuitton Neverfull. Because of this, I think it has a much better chance of becoming iconic in the future.
